Obturator Neuropathy Secondary to an Acetabular Paralabral Cyst
Published by admin
Abstract
A 40-year-old woman presented with left hip pain. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a left acetabular labral tear associated with a paralabral cyst extending into the obturator canal, resulting in compression of the obturator nerve. Increased T2 signal intensity and mild atrophy were observed in the ipsilateral adductor muscles, consistent with subacute denervation changes. This case highlights an uncommon complication of acetabular paralabral cysts and emphasizes the importance of evaluating adjacent neurovascular structures and secondary muscle denervation findings on MRI. Recognition of these findings may help identify the underlying cause of obturator neuropathy.
